Yes, Really: Man With Romney Facial Tattoo

From our friend Richard. Yes, this young man made a mistake. A rather large, obvious mistake.  Surely something can be done, that is if he has the nerve! Cover that large boring tattoo with a larger, more charming one.

Will The Real President-Elect Please Stand Up

With all the discussion of how the conservative media missed the mark, Maureen Dowd nails it in this New York Times piece.

What Keeps Us Getting Up In The Morning

This morning a dear friend called me. She has been recovering from a dreadful surgery and a long stay in the hospital. She’s still not herself, but she has found a reason to live: The Romney/Ryan campaign.

She called to see if I had heard that Paul Ryan was referring to Romney as “The Stench,” as in “If the Stench calls, take a message.” We don’t know if Ryan actually said this, but the thought of it puts roses in our cheeks. For the full Politico.com article click on ol’ Stench or Gilligan below.

GOP Has No Fury Like A Uterus Scorned

Be forewarned, Republican convention-goers.

My Mental Health

I find that not watching the news shows on Sunday keeps me relatively calm. I prefer to watch old British TV series on streaming media instead. I talk with a British accent (in my head, thank god!). I’m watching “The Guilty” with the actor who used to play Inspector Foyle in a very boring series on Masterpiece Mystery. (Yes, I know you don’t agree with me you think the show was tense and absorbing. Well, as my mother used to say, “That’s what makes horse races.”)

Yesterday Mitt Romney announced that Paul Ryan was his choice for VP. To be accurate, he said, “I’d like to introduce you to the next President of the United States. Well, the man’s an idiot so he said President instead of Vice President. (I just found out Obama made the same mistake when he announced Biden for VP, but he corrected himself immediately. So I make an exception. I’m basically biased. I often make an exception for Obama, although not always.) I fear Romney. I think America likes idiots. It makes them human, right? I’m writing this in real time, so I will have to excuse myself to watch the show to hear what pundits think the selection of Ryan does to President Obama’s re-election chances.

I’m back. I listened to Tim Pawlenty, Paul Gigot, Peggy Noonan, Howard Dean, Cokie Roberts, Gavin Newsom and George Stephanopoulos. Yes, it hurt me. Here’s what I got from it: If Obama ran on “Title Nine”(which is a government program that Republicans would get rid of if they could) right now after the fabulous showing of American women in the Olympics, he would win. And I think if the Democrats run that Obama ad of the Republicans shoving an old lady in a wheel chair over a cliff, he’s a shoe -in. Was that a real ad? I don’t care. That’s what they all should look like.

Then I switched to a Daily Show from last week, where there was a great segment on voter fraud, a non-problem … totally fabricated. In the last 10 years there were 340 cases of voter fraud across the nation, that includes putting down the wrong address and pen smears.
