how about “criminal assault” or “military tradition?” no, don’t tear the place down……turn it into a true Citadel, under siege……lock ‘em all (the female cadets can leave, of course) in and lose the key……
well, how about that — it’s fun to rant…..thanks for the opportunity….
Is this Military Mentality or just Male Stupidity? I often wonder about why anyone, male or female, would want to go to war. Now it’s becoming clearer. I know that’s not fair to rational people of either sex who feel the call to defend our country and to them I apologize. As for the irrational ones, I think it explains some of the atrocities we hear about in war zones.
Where do I start?! This mentality is what we’re having to deal with right now with the Republicans and their attitude: “If we can’t get what we want the American way, we’ll steal it. “And how do we change our children ‘s attitudes so they won’t perpetuate this abuse? I see web sites, articles, children saying save the environment, treat all fairly and equally. But still this kind of abuse goes on. Sigh. One of Rachel Maddow’s stories was the abolishing of the Department of Defense policy of no women in combat. Like women haven’t fought in various ways right beside our men, sometimes openly, sometimes in disguise. And the struggle goes on. Bless us all and thank you, Mother, for guiding us. A K-Mart indeed. They went bankrupt. How about a park where people can walk their dogs and enjoy plants growing? Thank you Sylvia and Nicole for helping us laugh instead of cry.
“To the Point” on NPR today had a segment about women in combat. The panel included an author who has written a book about honor. When he stated that, historically, men’s honor has been based on courage in battle and women’s honor has been based on maintaining chastity, I hoped the moderator (Warren Olney) would point out how anachronistic that is. He didn’t say a word. The author’s point seemed to be simply that “it used to be different.”

Big deal.
It’s the Citadel. What did you expect? Bullying is ingrained in the miltary culture.
